Gardening is a healthy and stimulating activity that enables children to explore the symbiosis of plants and animals, particularly at preschool age. The 5-year-old kindergarten students at AISVN work together to plow, flatten, plant seeds and water the flowers in the school's garden. After being explained by the teachers, some children even take part in the release of tiny worms into the ground, contributing to the soil becoming naturally fertile.
Ms. Christine Economou Olson and her students return to the school garden after a week of fertilizing and observing the growth of seeds. The students are filled with amusement when they see the green herbs, eggplant, and okra sprouting across the garden beds. And just like that the students make a connection with nature.
