The Recycled Fashion Show on December 11, 2020 concluded the Grade 3 "Impact of Single-Use Plastic on the Environment" course. On the catwalk, Ms. Mariella Brunton - Art Teacher at American International School Vietnam (AISVN) and students create impressive costumes using paper, cardboard, bottle caps and plastic waste.
The jury comprises Mr. Barry Sutherland - Principal, Mr. Ross Halliday, Ms. Carly Stafford and Ms. Que Nga Nguyen. They could not hide their surprise while observing fashionistas posing on the runway like real child models. This event left a lasting impression on judges and teachers due to the creativity and confidence of the elementary students. Moreover, students became deeply aware of the harmful effects of household waste on the environment.
Sharing the reason behind the launch of this project, Ms. Mariella says this activity began in her hometown of New Zealand 12 years ago and has recently received a lot of public attention.
