Mrs. Catherine joined ΛIS in August 2017 along with her husband, Mr. Carlos Matheus. They come from Colegio Internacional de Caracas (CIC) in Venezuela. At CIC Catherine taught IBDP and IBMYP sciences as well as leading the science department for nine years. Previously she taught sciences at the International School of Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. Catherine has also worked as a science teacher in the UK and Australia. She brings with her twelve years of experience in the IBDP and IBMYP.

Mrs. Catherine is passionate about environmental issues and believes that an international environment and the IB programmes provide a platform for the development of international mindedness in general. As a teacher, Mrs. Catherine looks for opportunities in which students can drive their own learning towards areas of personal interest based in real world contexts. At her last school, she organised an annual interdisciplinary fair. She believes that learning is a lifelong pursuit, which can take place in any context. In her spare time, Mrs. Catherine likes to practice yoga, play tennis, dive, travel and to try new things.
