Last Saturday, 13th November, G9-12 American International School Vietnam (AISVN) students participated in the Public Forum Debate event at SSIS event with all their other academic commitments. Students were debating in teams for the challenging resolution "The United States Federal Government should substantially increase its investment in high-speed rail".
In preparation for this special event, contestants have participated in lunchtime practice sessions at school. Many lower secondary students also expressed interest in this Thursday lunchtime activity and hoped the older students could mentor them on the Public Forum debate. Although our teams did not make it to the Semi-finals, our students made an excellent impression by winning 2 out of 4 rounds. Our AISVN students are keen to establish a debating club, which may provide them with more practical experience for future events.
