Education: Bachelor’s degree in subject area; master’s degree preferred

Experience: minimum 03 years (full academic year) of full-time teaching in a PK-12 setting; IBDP/AP experience is highly preferred for high school faculty

ΛIS General Information

American International School is an international school in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, offering an American-based curriculum for grades PK to 12.

Our high school offers both the Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diploma and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. The vast majority (over 90%) of our students are Vietnamese nationals intent on pursuing university study in English-speaking cultures. ΛIS is accredited by Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Colleges and Schools (WASC)

Our teacher-student ratio is 1:8. The majority of the faculty is from Northern America and the U.K. with fewer numbers from Australia, Ireland, Vietnam and other countries.

Compensation and Benefits

An initial contract is offered for two years with a competitive salary and benefits among international schools in Vietnam. Teaching staff will be placed at the appropriate step of the salary scale commensurate with their degrees earned and years of full-time experience in PreK-12 settings. Salaries are paid over a 12-month period, resulting in a high savings potential.

Salary ranges from USD 25,000 to USD 34,000 and benefits include housing allowance, settling allowance, health insurance, contract-end airfare, sick leave, personal leave, school holidays, summer holidays, professional development allowance, severance allowance. The School also offers a gratuity bonus and annual round-trip airfare for an extended contract, Dependents’ benefits include tuition waiver for up to two children, airfare, health insurance and visa.

School Calendar

Faculty typically report for a new school year on August 1. New faculty report two days prior to the full faculty start. The last day of school is typically on or about June 15. All teachers hired by ΛIS are subject to thorough background checks and must present satisfactory results from both home of record and previous countries in which they have resided. Detailed resumes and reference reports provided by International School Services and Search Associates (the two placement agencies with which the school works) as well as an extensive interview process conducted by the school’s hiring team help ensure the rigor of the ΛIS commitment to “Safe Recruitment.”
